Ariella Pahlke's films What you did before you were born and Strategies of Hope will be shown at the Atlantic Film Festival as a part of the Atlantic Shorts 4 on Sunday, September 14 at 3 p.m. and Tuesday, September 16 at 4:30 p.m. at Park Lane Cinemas in Halifax.

From the Atlantic Film Festival's website:
Strategies of Hope is a 26-minute documentary featuring patients, staff, and family at the Nova Scotia Rehabilitation Centre's Acquired Brain Injury Program. Participants collaborated with a filmmaker and worked with a variety of art forms to explore the impact of a stroke or brain injury and to share strategies for recovery.

What you did before you were born: A video letter to her son about his prenatal existence, What you did before you were born? links family history--in Serbia and Acadia--to Ariella’s Pahlke’s seaside house near Halifax to complete the journey to birth of her son. Leavened by humour, humility and a sense of community, this is a motion picture diary that translates life into pure delight.
